Services

Shanique Victoria’s psychotherapy practice is a safe, affirming space for individuals, couples, families, and groups navigating their mental wellness journeys. She specializes in addressing a range of mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, neurodivergence, trauma, life transitions, and other notable issues, particularly for Black and underrepresented individuals affected by racial trauma and systemic racism. She supports clients as they explore their experiences, heal from past wounds, and cultivate resilience and personal growth, tailoring her methods to meet the unique needs of each individual or group.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Approach

I have had the privilege of supporting a diverse range of clients navigating various mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, borderline personality disorder (BPD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), substance use concerns, grief, chronic stress, self-esteem issues, relationship difficulties, and racial trauma.

My therapeutic approach is integrative, multi-disciplinary, and person-centered, rooted in an anti-oppressive, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed lens. I tailor treatment plans to each individual's unique needs by drawing from various evidence-based therapeutic modalities. In addition, I provide specialized support for Black and underrepresented communities on their journey toward healing from racial trauma and race-based traumatic stress, recognizing how these experiences intersect with personal identity and overall well-being.

The therapeutic modalities I frequently incorporate into treatment include Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical-Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Family Systems Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Narrative Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

My goal is to create a safe and affirming space where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered on their path to healing and resilience.

In the case of an actual emergency please contact local authorities.

How are sessions conducted ?

The number of therapy sessions needed is dependent on each individual’s needs and goals. For some, therapy may be a short-term process (6-8 sessions); whereas for others, long-term and/or ongoing therapy may be required.

During our initial sessions, we will collaboratively establish some goals that will provide a framework for the work we will do together. We will also discuss the number of sessions that may be needed. We can always shorten the number of sessions if your initial goals and therapeutic needs are met or we can lengthen the number of sessions, if needed.

We generally start off working together either on a weekly or biweekly basis. In times of crisis, clients may request to meet twice weekly for therapeutic support.
